The Wright Inn and Carriage House
Asheville, North Carolina

Every age group from the teens to the seventies was in the room. Strangers brought together, yet it turned into one of the best reviews I've enjoyed. It could have been a family reunion or a gathering of the best of friends, but tonight, the Wright Inn was the "Right Inn"!!!

It started off with the usual tour and ended in my room. The Green Room has a TV, phone, alarm clock and a nightstand with books on it. There was a large Persian rug on the floor and a queen size bed with loads of pillows. A 6-drawer dresser, armoire, and lounge chair finished off the room. The walls were adorned with dried flower arrangements. My private bath had a shower. There was another unique feature....a step in front of the window allowed me to walk out onto a small, yet perfectly placed private balcony. I sat for a while enjoying the crisp, cool breeze.

Back downstairs, Judi had the social hour goodies ready, which included Grannie Apple Cake, butterscotch lemon pound cake, almond cookies, oatmeal cookies, cheese cubes, crackers and red pepper dip. There was also red and green grapes, tea and red or white wine.

I decided to head back downtown and take more pictures. As I was leaving, I met Pat and Floyd from Iowa. They had been in Florida on vacation and were visiting their old Iowa friends that have been running this inn for less than a year. They may be new, but with the effort I saw, Judi and Bill will be a success for a long time to come.

When I returned to the inn, Pat was preparing a deck of cards to play. We started talking about our travels when Floyd and Judi joined us. Then, a young doctor from Cleveland, Michael, and his wife, Denise came in. Bill, Judi's husband, jumped in and then came their twin 14-year old daughters. Pizza was ordered and delivered. Pat showed photos of her and Floyd "parasailing"! They sure have more guts than me. I admired them.

Everyone had such a good time, that the previous evening quickly became the breakfast conversation the next morning. It's rare when so many total strangers can all enjoy themselves on that level.......Bill and Judi had made it all possible.

At breakfast, we had grapefruit and orange wedges brought from Florida by Pat and Floyd. Pumpkin nut bread and Judi's almond surprise were next. Then, for the main course, we had home cooked bacon, toast, cooked grape tomatoes and egg strata with country style potatoes. After breakfast, everyone wanted pictures of the group for their albums.....

It was a review I'll never forget. This inn has been many things to many people. It was even chosen by Wrangler Jeans to help feature a new line coming out soon! But for me, the previous evening I had entered the home with strangers and this morning was leaving feeling homesick already. Let Bill and Judi take care of you. Visit their Website and make some new friends!
