Shinnston, West Virginia
Breakfast was organized by Kathleen Panek at the Gillum House Bed & Breakfast for us to meet some of the local officials. As we enjoyed our breakfast, City Manager Jeff Silka filled us in on the events and plans for the town. These included plans for a community pool and recreation area. Also in attendance was the publisher of The Shinnston News & Journal, Kim Gemondo. His editor and other local press representatives attended a luncheon prepared by Kathleen Panek of Gillum House Bed & Breakfast.
| Mayor Sammy DeMarco presents Cruising America with an official welcome from the city, June 10, 1999 after breakfast at the Gillum House Bed & Breakfast. | |
 | As we stopped by to shop, Sara Campbell of The Fashion Corner showed us how she makes her job fun, too, by riding her bicycle and watching soap operas as she waits for customers to arrive. The Fashion Corner is also a favorite gathering place for some of the local ladies on Fridays. |
| President of the Business & Professional Association, Mark DeMary, presents us with a basket of gifts from the local merchants. We would like to thank the following businesses: The Gillum House Bed & Breakfast, The Shinnston Pharmacy, The Basket Case, The Flower Cart, The Fashion Corner, The Quality Baking Co., Feasters Jewelers and Ideal Material Shop. | |
