Riverside RV Resort
Whistler, British Columbia
 | Heading North on Hwy. 99, towards Whistler, is one of the best scenic routes in Canada. The bays, lakes and snowcapped peaks urged us on into Whistler. It is a premiere destination spot for skiing. But now it has something else to draw tourists... one of the best campgrounds in Canada.
Just past the Whistler Village turnoff is the newest addition to the area. It is a multi-million dollar campground that has thought of everything!
While the main lodge probably won't be completed until around Christmas, the major aspects of the resort should be ready by mid July to early August. But the point
is... the park, the day we were there was filled to capacity, within an hour of our arrival. The people in the area seem to be going crazy for this campground and are eagerly awaiting it's completion. |
There will be 14 cabins, a pool, kids playground, 70 sites (40 are ready now), stables, tent area, an adjacent putt-putt golf course, shuttle service to local golf courses and the town of Whistler too. The lodge will have an arcade, snack bar and gift shop. It will also house the administration offices and some housing for employees. They already have the bicycle and boat rentals going on too. Each site and cabin is wired for cable TV and plans are in the works to make this same connection be a cable internet connection. Currently, you can connect in the office to check your email. There will be one completely handicap-accessible cabin and the restrooms and showers in the main lodge will also be accessible. The entire road system within the park AND each site is paved, making for easy navigation.

Jenna, the camp hostess, took us over everything and explained what is coming. It took hours, just to talk us through it all. SHE EVEN HIGHLIGHTED THE FACT THAT THIS CAMPGROUND HAD THE ALL-IN-ONE BOXES THAT WE LIKE SO MUCH. The park will offer both back-in and pull through sites, some accommodating up to 60' rigs. Each will be landscaped with grass and shrubbery and flowers and include a picnic table and fire ring with grill. After the tour, Jenna invited us to her home for lasagna and Caesar salad. But there was way too much work to do, so we opted for T-bones on the grill and work. Afterwards, I caught the end of another NBA championship game on the cable TV that had just reached completion that day.

There are ball fields and a skateboard ramp just over the creek behind the campground. I went over and got some pictures of the kids having a blast. I thought that the campers sure will love having these facilities so close. It was getting dark when I got back and had to call it a day.
We rose early the next morning and headed back to the B&B's in Vancouver... but that's another story. So check out this great Site, book a week or two, and tell them,"Cruising America will be back to see the finished product!!!"
