The Pine Knob Inn
Canadensis, Pennsylvania

"Discover forgotten enchantment" is how the Inn has been described. And an apt description it is!

We arrived at the inn just a little early and were greeted by John Garman, owner of The Pine Knob Inn, now in his 4th year. As John and I settled on the great front porch to talk, Mike (as usual) wondered off with his camera, fascinated by the sprawling old home and the grounds. There are 2 gazebos, wonderful landscaping, flowers and plants and a huge swimming pool.

The Pine Knob Inn, circa 1847, has been in continuous operation as an inn since 1883! When John and Cheryl acquired the property 4 years ago, they added their own special touches to the existing inn. The rooms abound with country decorations and antiques. Everywhere you look, you will find some detailed piece of artwork or a delightful relic of history. Much of the equipment in the kitchen of the restaurant and throughout the Inn dates back to the early 1900's. The proof of the quality of workmanship and equipment installed in the Inn is the fact that much of it is still in operation! In the common area is a table piled high with games and puzzles for guests to enjoy.

The Inn consists of three buildings plus the bungalow. Our room was in a building separate from the main house, with a large front porch and 2 swings. The room was great! Our queen size bed was very comfortable and the room boasted a private bath, fireplace, air conditioner, dresser and a sitting area. The room had 6 windows and the weather was beautiful today. The windows were open to let in the cool summer breeze.

As the perfect country retreat, The Pine Knob Inn has no TVs or phones in the rooms. The entire experience is meant to encourage relaxation.....and it succeeds wonderfully! After our fantastic dinner in the restaurant, we waddled back to collapse into one of the swings on our porch and reflect on the day past.......as well as to agree that a person couldn't possibly eat like that every day!!!

The next morning, we were up and out early....Mike had spied a number of photo-ops on our way in, so we did a little backtracking before heading on to our next destination.
