Perido Bay KOA
Lillian, Alabama

Set on the bay, this KOA offered everything. The bay or the pool for swimming, Kabins located just off the bay, tons of merchandise in the general store and we arrived on Saturday, which meant "Ice Cream Social Night!!!"

We were led to our choices of sites. All had shade and close to the front of the park. We choose G4 because it was so close to all the activities. Cindy headed off to download the email from a pay phone behind the office while I headed to the pool to take pictures. I got some great photos of some kids playing in the pool. It sure did bring back memories of my youth, at the base swimming pool.

After taking some more photos of kids playing basketball, I met Cindy and we headed off to take showers. The force of the water was great. And everything was so clean. We love finding parks like this.

We went up to the meeting hall early so we could catch pictures of people as they entered the hall. They were all fascinated about our lifestyle and asked many questions. Two guys even bought our "money cds", so they could try it themselves. Good luck, Gary.

The folks started piling in and the kids were having a blast. There were strawberries, nuts, caramel, butterscotch and more. I think everyone got their money's worth and then some. It was all the ice cream you could eat for $1.25. But they had fun and at parks... that's what it's all about.

The campers sat around for a long time talking about their travels, families and more... it was a great social night. We met another couple from Florida. They had tons of questions about modem friendly campgrounds and bought a copy of our book.

The sun was just setting as we landed back at the camper. Cindy's camera does better in that lighting so I took some with it. I'm really looking forward to completing this year's photo cd.

As we walked around the park, we noticed that the spaces were level and roomy, nearly all with large trees around to help keep it cool. The roads were nicely graveled and dry, even with all the rain lately. Benches and swings were positioned around the park for those who may want to watch folks play horseshoes, visit or just enjoy the wonderful flowers and plants.

We sat outside and enjoyed the evening. There was a breeze off the bay that kept the park nice. Folks, for a nice time at a nice park, it's hard too beat this one. So book a stay and tell them we sent you.
