After our tour, we were taken to the 1910 Cygnet House, right next door to the main house. The Blue Heron Room overlooked the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and boasted a king size bed, TV and phone line and our bath had a large whirlpool tub. A gorgeous hand-sewn quilt rested on the bed and there were lots of pillows. Done is shades of white and champagne, the room was perfect for relaxing as well as working.
There was a full kitchen for our use on the first floor, stocked with drinks, snacks and even ice cream! Each of the 15 rooms at Nightswan are spacious and have private baths. There is ample parking available...even for The Eagle. Many of the suites open onto porches or decks that offer a gorgeous view of the sunrise. The rooms were really quiet and the noise of the busy waterway could not be heard inside. When you stepped outside, you were greeted by waterfowl. Pelicans and other birds waited for local fishermen to throw scraps of bait to them or plunge into the water after a fish themselves.
Martha and Chuck take care of the majority of the daily B&B business and are also teaching others the finer points of inn ownership. Below she is shown with a future B&B owner - Callie is an innkeeper in training!

While there, we spoke to several guests, who had nothing but praise for the Nightswan, which did not surprise us. A friendly greeting is only the beginning. Upon prior arrangements, meeting rooms are available, special dinners can be catered - the night we arrived, Martha had made all the preparations and served up a feast. One of her guests was celebrating a birthday and their party of four had requested dinner. Filet mignon, potatoes to die for.........the works!
Breakfast the next morning was served in the dining room of the main house. We started off with coffee, tea and orange juice. Callie brought us hot pineapple applesauce, followed by blueberry strata with blueberry syrup......so good that it was hard to believe that it was actually a low fat breakfast!
As we prepared to leave, Martha came out to the motorhome to wish us safe travels and to meet Lexxus. We were absolutely charmed with the serenity of Nightswan and would heartily recommend it as the perfect escape. Be sure to visit their Website and make your reservations......and tell Martha & Chuck that Cruising America says HI!
