Moss Beach Distillery
Half Moon Bay, California

"As the fog drifts quietly and mysteriously in around the Moss Beach Distillery, it's easy to believe in ghosts. Across a candlelit room one easily imagines eerie shadows upon a wall, or hears mournful whispers as the wind howls through the misty Cypress groves outside. These mournful whispers, say those who know the story, are whispers from the past."

The Moss Beach Distillery is well known for it's trio of tragic, but romantic ghosts and was recently profiled on the TV series "Unsolved Mysteries".

Although we did not encounter "The Blue Lady" on our visit to the Distillery, we DID get to enjoy a wonderful meal while watching a fabulous sunset over the rocky California coastline!

Our dinner reservations were made by Terry Baldwin of Mill Rose Inn and timed perfectly for the sunset. As Mike met with owner Bill Gillespie and took photos around the restaurant, bar and outdoor patio, I placed our dinner orders with Kelly Creps, our waiter, who was very attentive and professional throughout the evening.

Mike had the New York strip steak with baked potato and mixed vegetables, while I opted for the Filet Mignon with mashed garlic potatoes.
Both steaks were done to perfection and the garlic potatoes were great...with just the right amount of garlic! Fresh pea pods, asparagus, carrots, zucchini and squash, along with rolls and butter, finished off our main course. We HAD to followup this wonderful meal with dessert, of course! I chose the carrot cake and Mike had Chocolate Mousse....a perfect ending!

Moss Beach Distillery is an official California Point of Historical Interest and definitely a place to stop on your way to Moss Beach and Half Moon Bay, located not far south of San Francisco. They offer champagne brunch, have outstanding banquet and conference facilities, not to mention the view from the dining room of the coast and, of course,......the Blue Lady!

When planning your next escape from the big city, be sure to stop by the Moss Beach Distillery website, read about their ghost and make your reservations for dinner........and remember to tell them that Cruising America recommended them!
