This restaurant is in the Heart of the Historic District of the Town of Mendocino. The view of this peninsula town from just across the bay is heartwarming. You can't help but feel at home. Al & Penny of the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek had made the arrangements for our review tonight.
We were taken to a seat that afforded us a spectacular view of the cliffs overhanging the ocean. After meeting Caitlin, our waitress for the evening, we placed our orders and were ready to begin another adventure!
Mike started with Select Pacific Rim Oysters, six on the half shell in Champagne-shiitake mushroom glaze with black pepper brioche and alder-smoked salmon caviar. I had the Potato Gnocchi with wild mushroom-sherry butter sauce.

Next came our entrees, the Niman Ranch Hangar Steak grilled , with klamata olive vinaigrette and mascarpone polenta. I ordered the MacTwins - two Niman Ranch burgers with caramelized onions, Vermont white cheddar and whole grain mustard-mayo on poppy seed buns with gaufrettes.

As a great way to end this fantastic meal, Mike had the Banana Split (3 scoops of ice cream, chocolate & caramel sauces, whipped cream and toasted walnuts), while I went for the Meyer Lemon Curt Napoleon (with caramelized puff pastry).

The service was impeccable and the food was fabulous......a true treat in the heart of Mendocino! When you are visiting the area, be sure to make reservations for your dinner at MacCallum House and tell them that Cruising America said HI!
