Kachemak Bay Lynx Bed & Breakfast
Homer, AK

I had just arrived and started taking pictures at the Lynx, when Cindy called from the Homer Spit saying she was ready to be picked up from the morning's boat tour to Otter Cove. Margot, the owner, was quite busy, so we set a meeting time for later in the day and I hopped back aboard the Eagle for a run to the Spit.

We arrived back and visited with Margot on the front porch of the Clubhouse. This is the first B&B we have stayed in that has a 9-hole golf course on the premises. You can actually play 18 holes by going forward and then working your way back, but it's adorable and left me wondering if there are more out there that offer this amenity. It was quite a busy course, with folks coming and going all afternoon. Margot even helps out on the course sometimes and she posed for some shots of the locals having fun.

After visiting for awhile, we headed out to Don Jose's in town and had an early dinner. Then we returned to the B&B for showers before heading to Alice's to see a local talent that is known far beyomd Alaska's borders, all the way to Nashville. HoBo Jim was the Main attraction and we visited with him briefly before his show. Unfortuanately, we had to get back and do some work at the B&B.

But talk about having it rough to return to! Our room had two queen size beds, sofa and 2 chairs, private bath with shower and a balcony in the rear. The view of the glacier was spectacular from the window in our room and it was still early enough to enjoy it for a few hours before drifting off. We are starting to get used to the long days.

The next morning, we had continental breakfast of blueberry coffeecake, cold cereals, bagels, cantaloupe, blueberries, grapes, raspberries, pears, cherries, coffee, tea and orange juice and visited again with Margot in another building that also has B&B rooms.. She works in the school in a small Russian village in the off season

We really admired Margot. Her tray is full, too, with the huge property, different businesses and working for the school district. She is a superwoman herself! She has been at it over 5 years and isn't missing a beat. So check out her Website, book your stay and say "Howdy", for us.
