Hummingbird Inn Bed & Breakfast
Goshen, Virginia

Historical, detailed and personable -- all ways to start to describe this B&B.

The historical part involved a great couple, "The Woods", who built and developed the property in Goshen, Virginia. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt stayed during her husband's stint as President. You can spend hours learning about this home. It will be time well spent!

Detailed in little ways, like the personal lighting for each parking space, the landscaping of the yard, and special touches and toiletries that most B&Bs forego, things like a stamped postcard of the Inn which was placed inside a notebook with area attractions and events listed.

And personable by things left to history, such as the original bannisters, floors and the verandah around the second story of this 3-story home. All of this, plus Diana and Jeremy, who were as gracious hosts as any we've had. They love to share the history of their home.

Every direction you turned was pleasing to the senses. Birds singing, a cool breeze, delicious homemade goodies from the kitchen, magnolia trees in bloom, the verandah that cries out for a book and a cold Pepsi to while away the afternoon, thick grass and flowers everywhere made us wish that reviews lasted a week instead of a day!

Hummingbird Inn is one of the few pet-friendly B&Bs we have encountered, as well as being modem friendly. Although Lexxus did not join us inside the inn, we were graciously allowed to plug in "The Eagle" and she was able to stay cool all evening in the motorhome. We were also given access to a phone line to retrieve our email and get some work done while we were there.

Breakfast was a treat as well! Fresh fruit, eggs, ham, biscuits and homemade bread, orange juice, coffee, and this scrumptuous raspberry coffeecake. Soft drinks and ice were readily available any time.

Goshen, Virginia isn't a very big town, but it has a "jewel" that would stand out in any size town. If you're traveling that way......stop at this one! Jeremy & Diana were some of the most attentive (without being intrusive) and gracious hosts we have met so far! Be sure to visit their Website too!
