Heritage Country Inn Bed & Breakfast
Ocala, Florida
Leaving the west coast, we headed inland through Florida's horse country and the drive was beautiful. Watching the yearlings run and play, in the open fields, was a sharp contrast to the beaches and traffic. Owners Lao and Harold Coutts were out of town and had left the inn with their friendly innsitter, Rose.
She took us on a tour and explained how the entire inn and all the furnishings had been built by the owners. There were six rooms, some had a king bed, two were queen and some had twin beds. We were in room 5 and it had a king. Each room is fully handicap accessible, including the shower. The rooms all have fireplaces, telephones and televisions.
White Christmas lights, along the walkways, made it a lot easier to navigate the grounds. There was a chill in the air and Mike commented that this was the first he had felt since leaving Casper, in late May. It had seemed hot every day since. So we took a short walk enjoying the countryside. Upon returning, we gratefully lit the fire that Rose had already laid in our fireplace and enjoyed the warmth. Then we caught up on some much needed work.
It was so hard to get out of such a great bed the next morning, but we knew breakfast was being prepared and headed that way. It was served in the dining room next to the Christmas tree and surrounded by poinsettias. We started with orange juice, coffee, tea and homemade bread, followed by a great cheese omelet. This egg omelet is one of the house signatures and was delightful. Afterwards, we spent some time with Rose talking about digital cameras, printers and all the toys that make photography fun.
(Of course everyone knows how we feel: Sony for cameras, Hewlett Packard for printers and Gateway for computers.)
This is a great place that makes you feel pampered! All too soon…...it was time to move on. Be sure to visit their Website and when you make YOUR reservations, be tell them Cruising America said Hi!
