"AND THE WINNER IS..." Eureka KOA!!!
We had just chosen where we would spend the month in Northern California based on where we could get instant phone hook-ups.
(It was that simple. And with more people coming online and starting travel related businesses, it will only grow.)

First off let me say that although this park was clean, maintained and had breaking edge technology; Owner/Managers, Gary and Gerry are the strongest part of the equation. They took care of us every day, directing us to different parts of the county, suggesting day trips and even brought us some new business. Heck, they even took us to dinner the day before we left. When it was time to go, it was like leaving home again.
 | Every day, the park would fill up by the afternoon and by the next day around noon, they would hit the road only to be replaced by another group of travelers. The convenient location of the park right along Highway 101, just 4 miles north of Eureka and 2 miles south of Arcata make this park the ideal stopping place as well as a destination park! There sure are a lot of campers out there that use this KOA along the way. We could see why! |
| The pool was crystal clear and the "adult only" hot tub was fun. There is a spa beside the pool for the kids too. There is playground equipment and a game room with pinball machines, jukebox and pool tables. But the gameroom has something really special now, an Internet kiosk. It allows anyone to enjoy the Net, without having to have your own computer. You can feed it bills or simply insert your card and you're online! We're looking forward to hearing the results from it's first summer under fire from the kids that will visit. | |
The laundry room was clean and stocked, as were the restrooms/showers. The general store was packed with everthing you would need, including the ice cream that Cindy sent me after a couple of times during our stay. And this campground is only one of the two in the state that has KOA Cottages. These are the top of the line cottages that have refrigerator, microwaves, TV, fans, central heat, private baths, fireplace. What I saw was comparable to any hotel room. Only, this is private. There are only two at the park so make your reservations early.

When it wasn't raining you could see the groundmen at work. The moisture keeps the grass green and the flowers gorgeous. The pine trees help shade us and made it unnessessary to even put the awning up many days. We had lots of folks stop over just to say hi and finally met the folks from "A Weigh WE Go".
So, if you are looking for a destination park for you AND the kids to enjoy.....this is it! If you are traveling along Highway 101 and just need a great overnight stop - and one with INSTANT phone hookups so you can check your email and call the family to let them know where you are......this is it! Whatever type of travel you are doing while in northern California, be sure to check out Eureka KOA and tell Gary & Gerry that Cruising America made the recommendation!
