Dry Ridge Inn
Weaverville, North Carolina

The day we visited the Inn, new owners Kristen and Howard Dusenbery were waiting to hear if they had passed the final vote to join the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association. They sure did get our vote!

We dropped off the Eagle in the large parking lot beside the Inn and went shopping. We returned to the Inn and Mike took pictures outside. Howard greeted us and took us inside and Kristen soon joined us. We toured the rooms of the inn. After the tour, I returned to our room to download email while Mike took photos inside the Inn.

It had started to sprinkle. At 6 pm we visited downstairs in the common area with Kristen and Howard, enjoying drinks, cheese, crackers and salsa & chips. We took a walk around the gardens and the koi pond and then headed off for dinner at the Sunnyside Cafe, just 2 blocks away.

We returned to our room. It has a queen bed, loveseat and chair in front of the gas fireplace. Desk and telephone jack (music to my ears!!!). The hardwood floors were spotless and the refrigerator in our room was stocked with drinks. The private bath had a claw foot tub with shower, ceiling fan, and wicker chair and stand. I continued working online while Mike downloaded his pictures and we watched the news on the TV.

In the morning, Mike read the newspaper while I finished a book. We watched squirrels play, birds at the bird feeder and the koi in the pond as we dined. We started with coffee, tea and cranberry-grape juice served on a lovely table with a lit candle and fresh rose. Next came a grapefruit half with cherry and honey bran muffins. Our main course was scramble egg cups with chives and ham in a breaded base, topped with cheddar cheese, croissants and orange & kiwi slices. Howard and Kristen joined us for breakfast and we continued our conversations of the previous evening.
