Gene and Paulette Dugger greeted me and took me on a tour of their restored 1905 home. They have worked miracles on it as everything was perfectly placed and spotless. Pride showed everywhere.
My room had a king bed, a large room size rug with a smaller one on each side of the bed. There were 2 night stands with lamps. It had a 3-drawer dresser with a mirror. A small desk was there with a stool and a wicker love seat sat in front of a window. Alongside it was a wicker chair and footstool. My private bath with shower, was big enough for 4 people!
The common area had 2 sofas facing each other with plants in the corners. There was a coffee table, a fireplace with a mirror embedded above the mantle, 3 lamps and an overhead light. An antique radio sat in one corner and I envisioned a family sitting around listening to "The Shadow" in a bygone era. Beautiful tea pots adorned a cabinet. There were books, magazines and plenty to keep you entertained. Fresh flowers and well-stocked candy dishes were all around.
I finished downloading pictures in my room and went down to tea time, where I met the other guests, a couple recently relocated to the Winston-Salem, NC area. He is an actor/author and she will be teaching at Duke University or the University of North Carolina. They were a delight.
I headed off to eat dinner and then went to see a movie. I was more than ready to enjoy my king size bed and call it a day. I love these beds!
| At breakfast, the couple talked of some of their adventures in the Seattle area and I told them some about my excursions. We enjoyed a pineapple and cherry appetizer with an orange juice and Perrier drink. Of course, they had Lipton tea also with pecan muffins and homemade peach jam. The main course was a sausage and cheese souffle with homemade bread, tomatoes and avocado on the side.
I visited with Gene and Paulette. It seems to me, this was a B&B at its finest. My hosts, at this point, were still trying to make sure that I was as comfortable leaving as I was arriving. These are genuinely great folks. Make sure you check out their Website and enjoy this inn for yourself! |  |
