Cedar Key Bed & Breakfast
Cedar Key, Florida
 | We had met Lois and Bob at last years' Florida Bed & Breakfast Association Conference and finally made it to Cedar Key. The pictures and website had not done this B&B justice. We were shown to the "Honeymoon Cottage" by Cindy, one of the staff at Cedar Key.
Our room was complete with King brass bed, private bath and wedding ring handmade quilt. The white wicker furnishings completed the room and it had it's own outdoor sitting area complete with fountain. This room is only attached to the rest of the B&B by the veranda, making it a private retreat. Although there are no phones or TVs in the rooms, Bob & Lois made it very easy for us to get online to retrieve our email. |
| Lois and Bob returned and visited a while with us before going back to the never-ending work of an innkeeper, all aimed to make the guest feel right at home. They had just painted the floor in the dining area and were returning the furniture and putting out the Christmas decorations. Then we met at one of the tables and talked about websites and munched on some great homemade warm muffins made by Fred, another staff member. The dining room overlooks the back garden, which was full with the wonderful colors of fall. | |
The water was only steps away and we took some of our best Florida sunsets here. This area is known to have harbored a few celebrities, including film star, Richard Boone. We could see why it has been a favorite retreat for many folks over the past 150 years! The island is also part of the National Wildlife Refuge. Cedar Key is a whole vacation in itself. You really need a good week to "get a feel" for this part of Florida.

Since this is the end of the season for much of Florida, we were the only guests this night. Lois suggested that we all go out to one of the local restaurants the next day and give Cindy a break from the kitchen as well. We had a wonderful, hearty breakfast in a restaurant overlooking the marina.
There are so many activities going on here, that we suggest you visit their Website, make your plans for your next relaxing getaway.........and be sure to tell them all Cruising America said HI!
