Big Mill Bed & Breakfast
Every inn has something that makes it special and unique. Chloe Tuttle has made the home she was born into a very special place. There is something everywhere you look that shows her skills and talents.
Williamston, North Carolina
Chloe met me, with a smile, as I turned the corner of the house and was so glad I had arrived for her review. She took me to the Suite and the colors of Mardi Gras, Spoleto and the details of her work were evident. The hand stenciled work was meticulous and the spanish tiles had been brought in special.
The common area was larger (700 sq. ft.)than most of the rooms I have stayed in. There was also a wet bar in each room that allows for preparation of food. There was a refrigerator too. She had put snacks out for me and I enjoyed them. The fireplace was a focal point in the room. There was a color TV, phone and a neat stained-glass window that was gorgeous at sunset.
The bed room had two beds. It was spacious and had a huge walk-in closet that had everything I could need.....all the extras. It was the perfect room, along with the grounds, to serve as "sanctuary". You literally see the peacefulness as Canadian Geese and ducks land on the 5 acres of lakes outside the window.
Another potential customer showed up and we both got a tour of the new rooms Chloe was working on. I wish I were talented when I see what Innkeepers are capable of. I especially enjoyed the out-buildings that had once served as chicken coops and tobacco barns. Chloe's father had cleared this land with mules and dynamite and she has many stories too share if you ask. Then we toured her lakes, bridges and islands. It was alluring.
We decided to go to a local restaurant called Deadwood. It is famous for having concerts on the weekends and was packed when we showed up. The manager, Ira, came over and we talked a little about local politics and he announced his family was expecting another grandchild. He was pleased. If you're in this area swing by and enjoy the eats and decor. (*Highly recommended)
I organized today's photos and then took a bath in the garden tub before heading off to a great night's sleep. I hate alarm clocks but I knew this B&B would be a perfect place to jump over to the Outer Banks. I have to leave early to see it all, so... alarm clock. I had a fruit cup of pink grapefruit and peaches along with tea, gave Chloe her pictures and signed her pizza board (another unique thing) before leaving. She hugged me (I love this job!) and again I hit the road to find another great B&B!!!
