We are extremely pleased to note that more and more RV parks are becoming modem friendly! The first edition of our CD had over 2500 modem friendly parks listed...with 350 of those offering "HOT" sites. More parks have also provided us with email and website addresses and we have included Phone Useage Restrictions when possible.

A Guide to Modem Friendly Campgrounds

We have contacted thousands of RV parks and gleaned information from the internet, RV-related email newsgroups, libraries, current printed directories, military installations, civil service areas, county service areas, BLM parks, National, State and Local Parks, fairgrounds and Chambers of Commerce.

When we arrive at a park to stay, a modem friendly campground will offer us SOME WAY to check our email and possibly upload a few files to our server. This can be a centrally located phone line in the office, laundry room, recreation hall, game room or even at a pay telephone.

INSTANT, ON-ARRIVAL phone hookups at our campsite are, of course, our preference! As with anyone who works as they travel, staying connected is uppermost in our priorities. An instant phone hookup means that we do NOT have to contact the local phone company to activate the phone line. We can just plug in our phone cord and get to work……minutes after we have set up camp! We have found over 440 campgrounds with these "HOT" sites.

Nearly all campgrounds now offer phone service through the local phone company. We don’t consider having ONLY that option available as modem friendly. Parks which are both modem friendly AND offer monthly connections have been identified in this CD, but those who only offer phone connections through the local telephone company have not been included.
